The Vela Vivaz story is one of friendship and fishing. It began October 7, 2021 when Matt met Felipe on a beach near the town of El Jobo in Northern Costa Rica. Matt’s search for a fly-rod roosterfish led him to Felipe.  Matt immediately recognized a talented, passionate, hard-working guide and Felipe appreciated Matt’s dedication, knowledge, and ability to put a fly in the right spot (sometimes).  While they didn’t get a rooster on fly that day, their friendship was born. Felipe and Matt began fishing together regularly.  On their many adventures around Costa Rica together, the idea was hatched, and the plans came together for a versatile, light-tackle boat based out of the new Marina Flamingo.  Now it is here, and Felipe and Matt are excited for the opportunity to share their passion with clients. (And it took a few tries, but they got that fly-rod roosterfish).
